Best RP server?

I saw a post a few days ago on the main boards about the best RP server. I can't seem to find it now, but I was wondering what you think the best server as far as people RPing, events and such is?

Hi there,

well I have tried out several, Steamwheedle Cartel (EU Server) is quite good to be honest. I think, just as on most servers, Goldshire is worst but except for that you can definately find some good RP using the general chat channels

Matt.

If you play US...The venture Company is awesome. Lots of events, and a very entertaining group.

A few of us from this server have rolled on it....PM me if you want our info!

Tanitha seems to be a heavy RP'er....iirc, on her paladin, any time she goes into a temple or cathedral, she kneels and stuff like that.

Some RP'ers take it to the extreme (see above link).

On TVC, if I get a buff from a class, I will usually respond something like "May the light/nature/gods guide you, priest/druid/other class." There are also times when I get bored of the grind and go out and do some RPing....but that usually lasts a few minutes.

I find RP'ing to be much much closer to the old D&D methods of playing...talking in old english, referring to the heritage of a player/class, etc.

Speaking in "Ye olde english" is just plain stupid, since it breaks the mood of the setting. You don't see any NPC spurting sentences like "Hast thou completed thine task?", do you?

No, the important thing is twofold:
- Talk in character as if you WERE the character.
- Be consistent.

Specially the last point are a pitfall many fall into. If you invent something for/about your character and then suddenly change it after a lot of players have observed your behaviour, you'd better have a darn good reason ingame for the change.

yeah although saying

"Thou shalt not pass!" is a bit more dramatic than, "You shall not pass!"

guess everyone knows I stole that from a certain short movie xP
