Does anyone have a link or listing of the various proc rates for weapon enchants? I'm mainly interested in learing things about the "Striking" enchants and others like "Fiery", "Unholy", etc...
Take for example "Greater Striking" for 1handers. It's +4 damage to your weapon. The way this was explained to me is that it's a flat +4 damamge to every swing you make. I'm guessing that means it would work better on faster weapons, yes? Same thing for "Fiery". It's strikes periodically for a flat +40 fire damamge. The more swings you have, the more chance for it to go off, right?
So if anyone has any research on weapon enchants that they can share, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
my main is enchanting and has firey on a semi-quick 1H sword (about a 2.4-2.6 speed). i've had it proc as much as 7 times in a row, or a little as every third mob. just kinda random i guess. also, im not totally sure about this as i dont watch my damage numbers really close, but im pretty sure ive seen firey crit for 60+ damage.
as for the +dmg enchants, i believe it is a flat +4, but im not sure if its weapon damage plus 4 (like per swing) or if it actually takes the 130 - 208 Damage or whatever it is and adds 4 to each end (making it 134 - 212).
+dmg increases your weapon's base damage, so a 56 - 96 damage dagger will become a 60 - 100 damage dagger.
Things like fiery, crusader, lifestealing are done on a proc per minute (ppm) basis. The proc % is determined by the speed of the weapon you put it on, so that by just doing auto attack you get a certain amount of procs per minute. Crusader is 1ppm, lifestealing and fiery are 6ppm. Icy procs once in a blue moon. I don't know about the rest. Once the enchant is on your weapon, the proc rate doesn't change so you can force it to proc more by increasing your attack speed (rogues can use slice and dice, for example) or by using instant attacks, which happen as well as your white swings, and have the same chance to proc.
Actually +damage enchants are on every hit, whereas chance on hit is adjust for weapon speed at enchant time to keep the same procs per minute rate. Check out http://rogerkarlsson.com/blogs/wow/lifestealing/ for a good examination of this. Things like a rogue's Slice and Dice or Blade Flurry can improve the proc frequency and instants aren't included.
Guys, I really appreciate this info quite a bit. I recently got the Curved Blade Ripper (a rare 1.9 speed 1handed axe) and estimated it should last me up until around levels 45-46. I'm a Paladin and almost ready to hit 40 which is when I can equip this weapon. So I've been trying to figure out what would be the best enchant for it within certain cost constraints.
I think I'm going to go for fiery on it based upon what I've seen here. Plus I was able to pick up the mats for around 15g.
Too bad there's not some serious documentation out there giving better info on the various enchant rates and stuff. But again, I really appreciate the info!

my main being a pally, and as far as proc rates go, i'd say firey is a great enchant for that axe. plus it'll probably look really sweet. and IDK about your server, but 15g for firey mats is REALLLLY cheap. my server has em anywhere between 30-50g depending on which gold farmer is setting the price.
