Question Mod Suggestion: Splitting up heals...

When i looked for new addons today for my priest i again just found some which select the best spell level and target unhealthiest player and stuff like that.
i was wondering if there is an addon which lets priests communicate over a data-channel and like split their healing over the raid. uhm, hard to tell in english but i'm thinking of it like this.

- tank is low on health
- priest 1 starts casting any heal
- priests 1 level of heal and amount of healed healthpoints will be broadcastet to a data-channel for priests only.
- priest 2 starts casting also not knowing priest 1 is casting already.
- priest 2 healing cancels because of information from the data-channel. or it might keep on healing calculating amount of healthpoints healed from priest 1 + needed own spell or it might switch to the second player with low hp.

this would save alot of mana and would help lower overheals. well since addons exist that share information like gatherershare and ctraid it should be possible, or ? is there some kind of adon like this already existing or in development? or maybe someone interested in making this come true?

heals CANNOT be cancled through any code. nothing can do this but another user buttonpress (i.e. a macro that would recheck the heal status) there are mods that check this.

Nemo you didn't even read what he said, what he is requesting and suggesting this addon would do.. would do away with over healing and is a very good idea. You wouldn't need to cancel heals if everyone was broadcasting who they were healing and for how much. Read before you write.

now, sammy, if you would have read what he said, he siad that priest 2 would cancle the heal THROUGH THE DATA CHANNEL ONLY. he didnt say priest 2 would realize he would be over healing and jump to canclem the heal. so why dont you read before you post.

now sharing spell information is a totally different thing here, in which case there are already a few mods that do that. healsync for one, which displays your cast, and every other healers cast. now, are we done here, or do i have to explain more why my original post WAS CORRECT.

I was tired and you are correct.. I was wrong.. I scanned over 2-3 times and swear I saw nothing even related to canceling spells. But at same time it is still possible for the game to cancel a spell by channel if the other priest starts casting spell and informs other people that they're casting and the data gets to your client before you physically press the key to start casting your own healing spell.

but then again thats not canling, thats spell casting prevention. come addons have you click any button to do a scan to check for the overheal, and thats legal, because its a user input.

To be honest prevention is actually better than canceling because you won't waste time casting a spell when you could be healing someone else.

so in short, this mod would send information through a data channel. the mod would then pick up this data, and through use of a macro bound function, it would ask if the current target has enough deficit of life for your heal to be effective under a certain over-heal percent.

You can do this without everyone having to use the same mod or a dedicated channel. Trap the event CHAT_MSG_SPELL_FRIENDLYPLAYER_BUFF to see when other healers are casting. This will give you healer name, spell name, and (by deduction) when the spell will land. When you are about to cast a spell yourself, target those healers who have healing spells in progress and check their targets. Don't cast if one is about to heal your target.

That's how my add-on does it, anyway.
