What ring combo to chose?

Until a few weeks ago, I only had my Tidal loop and a green ring. Now they are piling up and ...oh...the choices.

[Zanzil's Band] and [Zanzil's Seal] (+3% to hit, +17 damage, 23 Int, 10 sta, some mana regen)

vs

[Zanzil's Seal] and [Band of Servitude] (+1% to hit, +34 damage, 19 Int, 18 sta)

vs

[Ring of Spell Power] and [Band of Servitude] (+56 damage, 9 Int, 8 sta)

or any other combination. (not even taking the dragonslayer signet into this with lots of st and int and a +1% crit chance)

Awesome damage vs chance to hit. How much does "chance to hit" affect the damage to deal? The combination of the Zanzils, forming a set with a bonus looks not bad there.... your thoughts?

(P.S. My only other source of +to hit would be the +1% from Felheart robes, so I can have a min. of +1% to hit and a nax of +4% to hit..no idea if there is a limit in PvE and if it differes towards normal lv 60, lv 60 elites, lv 60 super elites (as in MC and BWL) or bosses.)

i'd take the zul combo.

i m not sure about the +hit stats, but i know that you have around 5% chance to miss vs a lvl 60 mob and this scales up to around 15 % at bosses like nefarian. But i m sure someone will have the exact numbers :)

whit my mage i prefer crit over hit nowadays, but that s only since the talent remake and the nice 6%hit talent ^^

+crit is definately > +hit for the most part. Damage is also something that can be very nice, so, you should get as much of that as possible along with +crit and +int. Sounds like you're mostly doing instances, so, health isn't much of a problem with you considering you most likely will have 4K+ health.

Yes, I am at 6500 health fully buffed and 6200 mana or so - and mainly instancing.

My thinking was that for a spell to crit it has to hit first...and crits can easily bump you to the top of the aggro meter. Had to tank a Molten Giant after a 2500 - 2900 - 2100 crit combo hit home and I wasn't especially paying attention. ^^

So that is why I wanted to know if maybe to hit > damage > crit (in Instances - in PvP crits are great..as they are in solo PvE)

No. Hit > crit. Why so? Det is speaking of lock and locks have problems with threat handling. +hit provides more steady increase in damage done while +crit provides spikes. Spikes are bad. Second, +1% hit provides basically 1% extra damage, +1% crit provides 0.5% extra damage without ruin and 1% with ruin. To make things not so simple, worth of of +hit depends on the mob you're fighting as well. For raid bosses every piece of +hit a lock can get helps since they're counted as lvl63 when calculating hits and resists and everything up to +17% hit helps. For lvl 60 char versus lvl 60 mob more than 4% of +hit is waste. You can see how +hit works here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...1&tmp=1#post37

Extra health is always useful but for instancing lock +hit and +damage are bread and butter, sta and crit next and int as third choice. This is in general and varies according to situation naturally.

As to what gives you best results, it varies depending on mob. [Ring of Spell Power] and [Band of Servitude] is about equal as [Zanzil's Band] and [Zanzil's Seal] anywhere as long as you don't have much +hit from other items, with more +hit the first combo becomes better at trash while Zanzil combo stays as good at bosses. [Zanzil's Seal] and [Band of Servitude] combo is not as good in either situation imho, not far off but little. If you're geared with Felheart level stuff I'd go for the Spell Power & Servitude combo while as silly it sounds when getting more +damage gear Zanzil becomes worthy contestant.
