It would make more sense if you didn't have to kill all of the others first, especially the players - that effectively turns it into a mindless kill 'em all quick battle - you just have to kill everybody before they have time to res at a graveyard and get back again.
On the other hand, if the attackers could just "assassinate" the target... well with WoW's mechanics that might be rather hard to prevent, except perhaps with an entire defending team of mages... ;-)
