On topic, I have slightly mixed feelings about the current raid instance being put on the shelf and replaced by the new lvl 70 ones. OTOH, I think it's a bit sad that I'll probably never get to see AQ40 and Naxx the way they were intended (i.e. at lvl 60 in T2/T2.5 gear), but then again my real life schedule never allowed me to push that hard with raiding anyway. So yeah, overall I think it's a good thing as I will then get to see these places and experience the encounters.
Looking beyond just myself, though, I also think it's healthy for the WoW community to get some new instances and fresh challenges. MC has been the way it is now for 18+ months or so, and even BWL has been around for a while. The only instance which in some sense becomes obsolete almost immedialtely would be Naxxramas, but I think people will still want to go there. Bottom line - the current raid instances have done what they are supposed to, so it's time to move on.
Regarding the suggestion to redesign MC, BWL, AQ and Naxx to fit the new 25 man cap ... ehh, I think that would make it a bit tricky for lvl 60s who don't get the expansion. I'm pretty sure Blizz don't want to alienate the part of the population that will stay at lvl 60, so I don't think they will touch the player cap nor the instance reset timers. I do think, however, that Blizz at some point will retrofit them with lvl 70 loot (and 70+ bosses), to allow lvl 70 players to re-run them for appropriate rewards.
As I mentioned in some other thread, WoW currently has 7 raid encounters/instances, and the Burning Crusade will add 7 new ones. That is a pretty substantial chunk of raiding content, and assuming Blizzard will retrofit the old instances, lvl 70 players will have 14 raids to choose from. There's only a limited time in a guild's raiding calendar (and also in players' real life calenders..), so it will probably be a while before the old instances are remade.
