First off, I'm not sure whether Jin'Do's Judgment is the right name for the item I'm talking about. It's a 2H Staff with something like 10 sta, 10 int, 24 damage/healing, +1% to hit, and 14mp5. Anyway I'm talking about the one with 14mp5.
So, my guild will not allow any healers to roll on the item. They say if a stat is wasted on a class, they can't roll on it. So since it has the 1% hit on it, we can't roll because healers don't need +hit.
I feel like 14mp5 is a crapload and healers should be allowed to roll.
You should ask them how much healing the mages do.
It's got 27 dmg/healing and +2% chance to hit. If your guild is just now in ZG and AQ20 then it is probably better used by a DPS caster, namely mages. You can't really judge a guild's loot system by one item, since often the officers get together and agree that class A will get item X and class B will get item Y even when both would be an upgrade for either class.
Its a bad rule. Lots of items have stats that would make it good for multiple classes. Who needs a staff with plus healing and plus hit? I would ask for the rule to be done away with or I would find a better guild.
Well my personal feeling is that it's sort of a cruel item to put into the game. Like gloves with +50 healing and +50 ranged attack power. Yes, it has damage and healing, and yes it has the +hit. But 14 mp5 is an absolute crapload to a healer. To some people at that level of raiding it might be like a 50% increase in their mp5.
It's not a source of conflict in the guild at all. But discussion boards are for discussion and I felt like discussing it.
We had this discussion when it dropped and decided to let healers bid. Druid got it and was made up with it. It's one of those items that is good for both healers and DPS classes.
A lot of the loot in ZG has been designed that way I think.
I've had some problems figuring out this weapon myself. The +hit makes up for the pretty low damage, but the 14 mp5 is just weird if they meant locks and mages to use it. Druid is the closest I get when trying to come up with an "intended" class. Pretty much any caster can make use of it, but a lot of itemvalue goes to waste on unwanted stats no matter unless you're an uhm.. balancedruid?
The dmg/healing stat is what's annoying. Even if it's easier now than it used to be, getting a decent +dmg weapon as a dps-caster is hard as well as being where the biggest upgrade usually lies. I'd probably recomend it for mages/locks with your current progress. As far as healing goes the options are plentiful compared to +dmg weapons. As for having fun in PvP for healers, the +2 hit and 14mp5 is wasted and 27 dmg alone just doesn't cut it if it means taking away a major upgrade from another class.
Could possibly be used as a switch for MCing in Naxx I guess, but that's not really making a lot of use of it ;)
To be honest, this staff is a rather poor weapon for DPS casters. I don't recall any that even wanted it so it tends to go to healers anyway. But the mana regen tends to make it more healer oriented than dps.
I do agree with the notion that +hit % is kind of waste on healers with regards to PvE progression. We give dps casters priority on items with +hit%.
The few encounters in Naxx that require a Priest to have +hit% for MC is easily fixed with less top end gear that contains +hit. Also, I believe their Tier 2.5 set has some as well.
