Silver, Tin Mining Help.

Hi everyone,

I just started a couple of days ago and learned the jobs smithing and mining.

I've been able to mine copper and forge items.

My problem is I cant seem to find any silver, tin or gold that are required for the higher levels of forging.

Does anyone know where I can find them?

Thanks.

As horde, I've found many tim, iron, and such veins in the barrens, and later in thousand needles.

Silver is rare to find, but the other are fairly common.

I'm with the alliance.

Also, do the veins change color?

Since copper is yellow is silver silver or do they all have one color?

They are all the same color on the mini map. They do look a little different up close though.

My last name is stout!

Back on track....you can hover over the mini map to see the node at the location.

So get a decent add-on that will help you remember where the nodes are.

Typically though you need to look at the mining skill required to mine those nodes and using the formula of 5 rework that to a level. I'm not 100% sure that this works, but from what I recall it seems to work out.

For example:

Tin is orange at a mining skill of 65, yellow at 90 and green at 115. Divide each of those by 5 and you get 13, 19 and 23. If memory serves me right, you should be looking in zones aimed at a player between level 17 and 22 approximately for mining Tin. (And higher, of course, although other minerals will be more prevalent)

Silver is simply an uncommon tin node, in the same way that gold is an uncommon iron or mithril node. For reference then - Copper is 1, 25 and 47. Tin is 65, 90 and 115. Silver is 75, 100 and 125. Iron is 125, 150 and 175. Gold is 155, 175 and 205. Mithril is 175, 200 and 225.

I've seen copper and silver in Darkshore and copper, tin, and iron in Ashenvale. Keep an eye out for them though, they aren't common.

There's quite a lot of tin available in Redridge Mountains.
