It does sound like you picked up the Crossbow skill, especially if you're human. I believe you have to travel all the way to Darnassus to learn bows, and Ironforge will teach you guns.
The weapon vendor where you leanned the skill will have crossbows for sale. I would buy the cheapest one for now, and don't forget a packet of arrows too. As a warrior, you will basically be using the bow to pull mobs towards you, rather than you charging into the middle of them. You may want to do this because there may be other groups of mobs around that will gain aggro on you due to your closeness if you charge in. But you're only going to get one shot off in any case. If you're loaded with money, you can buy a more powerful crossbow and arrows.
Then in your character ability page, you will find one called Shoot Crossbow. You can drag this to your action bar. Do not just drag the actual crossbow into your action bar. All this will do is equip it, not actually shoot it. You drag the crossbow into the ranged weapon slot of the character sheet, and your packet of arrows right next to it. Then just target your mob from a distance and shoot! Your first few shots are likely to miss, but you will still get the attention of the mob. Keep doing that, and you should skill up fairly quickly.
