2-handed weapons; not sure what to use

From what i'm reading it seems a lot of warriors go with 2-handed swords. I was originally just going to stick with 2-h axes on my dward warrior, bad idea?

thanks

Depends on how you spec.
Depends on how you play.
Depends on what you do (quest grind, group instance)
Depends on how good your gear is.
Depends on PvE or PvP.
etc.
etc.
etc.
etc.

See where I'm going with this? There is no clear answer with warriors.

True all that...
To generalize a little, here's what you should go for:

When in a party: 1h + shield (mainly defensive stance, depending on situation)
When soloing: 2h

The other option is to dual wield ie, 2 one handed weapons in each hand. It really depends on your own personal preference. In general if you look at your talent tree and want to go down the Arms route then a 2 handed weapon is preferred. If you fancy the Fury tree then people will usually dual wield. Of course theres no official limit, play with what u like but they are basically the choices

I believe you get the dual wield ability at lvl 10 (I may be wrong..it's been a while )

As I got cash I went to the trainer and trained every weapon I could use.

If I found a 2h Axe that was better than the 2h Sword I was using I just swapped weapons, went to the start area, whacked lvl 1 mobs for 15 minutes and got my proficiency up to acceptable levels.

I did this because it's quicker than doing it the other way.

Say you're lvl 30. If you go and try to hit level 30 mobs with a weapon in which you have 0 proficiency you will miss - a lot. You may miss so much that they kill you.

If you hit level 1 mobs you won't miss that often, if at all, and the level 1 mobs will miss you - a lot.
