Curious..

Been playing the game for about a week, and I have noticed that one thing in this game happens a lot.. and it is kind of annoying.. and I have to ask..

Whats up with all these group invites????? During a playsession of 2-3 hours I can get up to 20 groupinvites, just passing through a city, or a player. More common is me bashing away on some monster for a quest, and someone runs up to me and I get the group invite.. Isnt there a smoother way to go about this? Like.. ask first? If you need help with something, why not just ask friendly instead of hitting me with a group invite, without saying a word?? If you are on the same quest and want to "share" the monster count.. ask?? Its not really bothering me, or interupting my gameplay as I always hit decline on such request without beeing spoken to first.. but..

Im curious though... why?? This isnt meant as a rant in any way.. Im just simply very.. curious :)

Hmm.. it might be your server? I've been playing on Earthen Ring for 2 months now and haven't gotten 1 random, unsolicited group invite :) or maybe I'm just lucky.

...and how about getting hit up with random guild invites. Says a lot about your guild if you just run up to anyone and invite them. Sounds like a quick way to round up a bunch of knuckleheads to do your bidding

Lazy people would be my guess. You'll find the same thing with people requesting you to sign their Guild Charter, opening Trade windows and so on.

If they can't be bothered talking to me, I'm not going to work up an interest in what they're doing either so tend to decline them as well, unless it is a unique spawn in which case there's no harm in letting them join in the death of it.

If they don't contribute though they'll get a boot before it dies.

To the OP:

I think that sometimes players with less developed social skills forget that behind each player toon is a real person combined with a point and click mentality. They expect that you will accept their invitation because a computer doesn't say no.

Of course there are those that just keep inviting - they alas, are just challenged in the brain zone. They earn a place on my ignore list.

Also watch out for the Andy warHoles who bowl up to the quest boss you have just fought to and tag it before you drop his last guardian. They make me REAL happy!

Welcome to the World of Warcraft

Sometimes, when I am out in the world working on a quest, if I see a player about to engage the mob I have to kill for a quest, i will invite them without talking to them first...because if they just go in and attack taht mob...I havea good 10 minute wait on the respawn. Me not knowing the alliance quests at all, I will usually accept invites while I am out grinding away....as my guess/hopes are that that is what is going on. Alas, it usually isn't and I leave the group almost immediatly.
