Best Combo

First of all i would like to apoligies for starting another one of these topics, I have read the sticky but i can still not decide

Night Elf
Rogue
Hunter
Druid
Mage

Horde-
Undead- Mage, Warlock
Orc-Shaman

I was wondering what was best for the night elf as well as the horde selection xD.

Q2. Should I start on a pve or pvp server? Should i collect experience in the game on pve before i move to pvp?

thx.

Only taurens (and Draenai if you have TBC) can be shamans and I'm pretty sure Night Elves can't be mages

As to the others, pick a class/race combo that you like the look of. Play a few to level 10 or so to get a feel.

The short answer is that we can't really tell you what to be..

You are pretty safe from being attacked in the starting areas on a PVP server, basically you get your first quest in a contested area at level 20. As levelling a character is a pretty large time investment you will most likely stay on the server that you start on for quite a while.

Hrm... my post is gone!

As Clavina said. We don't have the slightest idea. Nor can we even pretend to have one, as we are not you. Play them all, find what suits you, and have fun.

EDIT: Are you talking about racial benefits?

Night elves get 1% to dodge, shadowmeld, dead speed, and something else....
The dodge will eb relatively useless to ranged players, shadowmeld is semi-useless for rogues, and dead speed is cool, if you die...

Orc shamans -> nothing really to enhance the shaman with them....

Undead -> Cannabilism (semi-useless for mage), WotF -> nice to have for any class, breathing underwater ->useless

Priests have their own passive abilities in addition to the racial traits.

These can be of great benefit, or never used, depending on your style of play:

Desperate Prayer
Dwarf & Human lvl 10
Instantly heals the caster for 148 to 185. 10 minute cooldown.

Starshards
Night Elf lvl 10
Rains starshards down on the enemy target's head, causing 84 Arcane damage over 6 sec. Channeled.

Touch of Weakness
Undead & Blood Elf lvl 10
The caster's next damaging melee attack will cause 8 additional Shadow damage and reduce the damage caused by that target by 2 for 2 min.

Hex of Weakness
Troll lvl 10
Weakens the target enemy, reducing damage caused by 2 and reduces effectiveness of healing spells by 20% for 2 minutes.

Symbol of Hope
Draenei
Greatly increase the morale of the party members. Give them 33 mana every every 5 secs for 15 secs. 2 min cooldown.

Fear Ward
Dwarf & Draenei lvl 20
Wards the friendly target against fear. The next fear effect used against the target will fail, using up the ward. Lasts 10 minutes.

Feedback
Human lvl 20
The priest becomes surrounded with anti-magic energy. Any successful spell cast against the priest will burn 18 of the attacker's Mana, causing 1 Shadow damage for each point of Mana burned. Lasts 15 sec.

Elune's Grace
Night Elf lvl 20
Reduces ranged damage taken by 21 and increases chance to dodge by 10% for 15 sec.

Devouring Plague
Undead lvl 20
Afflicts the target with a disease that causes 152 Shadow damage over 24 seconds. Damage caused by the Devouring Plague heals the caster.

Shadowguard
Troll lvl 20
The caster is surrounded by shadows. When a melee or ranged attacker hits the caster, the attacker will be struck for 20 Shadow damage. Attackers can only be damaged once every few seconds. 3 charges. Lasts 10 minutes.

Consume Magic
Blood Elf lvl 20
Dispels one beneficial Magic effect from the caster and gives them 120 to 154 mana. 2 mins cooldown.

If you dont expect fair fights, PvP servers can be fun. There are no limitations on levels you can attack once you get out of a friendly zone ( pretty much everywhere from 20 on up to 70). If you really dont want to have to constantly look over your shoulder to avoid being rolled over by a group of people higher level than you, then choose PvE. There arent many fair fights while leveling on a PvP server. Its mostly about escape and avoidance.

I enjoy PvP servers. My wife is on the fence. She doesnt like PvP, but when we go to a PvE server she hates not being able to kill the horde that are competing for resources, or just getting in the way.

PvE = relaxing.
PvP = stressful.

Pick whichever is the most fun for you. And keep in mind that PvE is not completely PvP free, its just all consentual PvP.

As for class choice:

I like hybrids, so I would pick NE Druid or Orc shaman. For the druid, you REALLY need to give it until the 20s before it becomes more fun. They are fairly weak until then, but end up being pretty powerful. Shamans are fun all the way through. Both classes will be expected to heal at some point, regardless of spec.
