I just did some research on this file.
It has nothing to do with the memory of your computer, obviously. There is a bug in the file. The actual file is 300+ mb unless you get the zip file where it is 276mb. The 256mb is a fake, and it misplaced someones character. They were able to tweak it and get the actually installation from it (don't know how) but it ended up deleting or moving his character. Now I just started downloading the .zip file.

I have never heard of a computer not working, just because you have too much stuff on it even though you have plenty more memory. That would have to do something with the ram, deleting files wouldn't solve the problem. You would have to disable files in the startup, prob easiest way using msconfig. But "lodsa crap" on your computer would not stop the patch from installing if you had the appropriate diskspace left.
