Mac 2.3.0 Patch Trouble

Ok I just downloaded WoW for Mac yesterday and downloaded The Burning Crusade today.

I installed WoW and then installed BC. It installed correctly.

It then prompted me to download the 2.3 patch and it downloaded.

The problem is that when the installer gets about half way through (the dialog says "Writing terrain... to something") an error shows up and says the update cannot be installed.

The error message:
Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "/Applications/World of Warcraft/Data/expansion.MPQ". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at /--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The data being read was "World/Maps/Expansion01/Expansion01_52_37.adt", and the error code was 0.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)

I reinstalled both WoW and BC tried it again, same message. Tried duplicating the WoW folder, but no difference.

Any ideas of how to solve this? Is this problem related to the fact that I have an expired 10-day trial account?

Any help would be appreciated. :]

I'd do what it says and contact Blizz Tech Support about the issue. As you say it's a downloaded patch, it is unlikely it is a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM OR a networking problem.. which leaves hard drive corruption. In which case I'd look into backing up all your data ASAP. It might NOT be hard drive corruption, but doesn't hurt to back up your stuff even so.

So bottom line, call Blizz Tech Support about it and BACK UP YER STUFF. Also, you might want to try reinstalling OSX entirely after you back everything up. Sure it's a pain but 1. it might solve it, 2. it cleans out a lotta gunk in your system so it'll probably run faster/better after.

Good luck.
