The Instance
Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom is part of the Nerubian empire. This instance is the slightly harder of the two, the other being Azjol-Nerub. It is designed for level 73-75 characters. The instance is composed of undead nerubians, Scourge, Twilight's Hammer disciples and Faceless Ones. The areas within the dungeon are: Hall of the Conquered Kings, Befouled Terrace, The Desecrated Altar, and the Fallen Temple of Ahn'Kahet.
The nerubians of Ahn'kahet dug too deep during their attempt to escape the invasion of the Scourge. They got too close to the Old God under Northrend. Rousing its awareness, the Old God sent its insane creatures against them, and the nerubians were caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place. The leader of the Old Gods' forces, Herald Volazj is one of the nightmarish beings known as The Faceless.
Location
The instance is located in Dragonblight, Northrend. It can be found west of Agmar's Hammer and north west of Star's Rest.
Bosses
Elder Nadox
Elder Nadox is a undead nerubian vizier serving Arthas the Lich King. He may be found at the Hall of the Conquered Kings within a chamber.
Abilities
- Blood Plague: Diseases the enemy, causing 12750 Nature damage over 30 seconds at a rate of 1275 Nature damage inflicted every 3 sec.
- Blood Rage: Enrages a Swarmer, increasing size and damage done. It increases damage done by 200% and maximum health by 10000.
Strategy
Elder Nadox summons a guardian and other smaller units throughout the fight. The guardian will make Elder Nadox and the smaller units invulnerable to any attacks. The trick here is to kill the guardian immediately. A single player should cast an area of effect spell to get rid of the smaller units while everyone else focus on Elder Nadox. It is a simple fight. In Heroic, Blood of Plague causes up to 30000 damage over 30 sec.
Quotes
- Aggro: The secrets of the deep shall remain hidden.
- Summoning Adds: The young must not grow hungry.
- Player slain: Perhaps we will be allies soon.
- Player slain: Sleep now, in the cold dark.
- Player slain: For the Lich King!
- Death: Master, is my service complete?
Prince Taldaram
Prince Taldaram is a darkfallen blood elf serving as an ambassador of the Scourge. In order to engage the boss, you must first deactivate his shield. There are two platforms nearby accessible through a spiderweb ramp. The tank should pull them to the ramp rather than to fight on the platform. The reasoning behind this is line of sight. By the time the healer walks in to gain line of sight it could be too late. Healers must stay as far back as possible from the mobs. They have an ability to interrupt casting, causing spells to go into an 8 sec cooldown. Once the undead mobs have been slain, click the nerubian orb device. Two of these orbs need to be clicked to deactivate the force field protecting Prince Taldaram.
Abilities
- Bloodthirst: Instantly attack the target causing 120% of normal weapon damage. In addition, the next successful melee attack will restore 1% health. This effect lasts 10 seconds.
- Conjure Flame Sphere: Conjures a sphere of pure fire that floats through the air toward the target while firing searing beams at enemies that come within 18 yds.
- Vanish: Puts the caster in stealth mode for 2.5 seconds.
- Embrace of the Vampyr: Consumes the life force of the target, stunning it and inflicting 1500 Shadow damage every 2 sec for 20 seconds or until Prince Taldaram sustains 20,000 damage.
Strategy
Fight Prince Taldaram at the ramp. As soon as he casts Embrace of the Vampyr -- a continuous red beam on a single target -- attempt to cause the most DPS on the boss to deal 20,000 damage. This will cancel the ability. Otherwise, the player will die. You can use ice block or divine shield to cancel this spell. When the boss vanishes, all melee and casters should move toward the healer in case he casts Embrace of the Vampyr to engage DPS as soon as possible. Spread when he casts Flame Spheres to avoid the fire-based chain-lightning effect.
Quotes
- Aggro: I will feast on your remains.
- Embrace of the Vampyr: Fresh, warm blood. It has been too long.
- So appetizing.
- Vanish: I am nowhere. I am everywhere. I am the watcher, unseen.
- Your heartbeat is music to my ears.
- Player dies: I will drink no blood before it's time.
- One final embrace.
- Death: Still I hunger, still I thirst.
Jedoga Shadowseeker
Abilities
- Cyclone Strike: Performs a spinning attack that hits all nearby enemies, dealing weapon damage plus 150% and knocking them back.
- Lightning: Blasts an enemy with lightning, inflicting Nature damage.
- Thundershock: Creates a cloud of lightning that lasts 10 seconds., blasting all enemies in a selected area for 1575 to 2025 Nature damage and inflicting 1575 to 2025 additional damage every 2 sec.
Strategy
Kill all the Twilight's Hammer Initiates. This will trigger the boss event. Make sure to move away from the stairs. Elite mobs will spawn there as a measure to prevent kiting the boss. These shouldn't be engaged. Jedoga Shadowseeker will descend slowly and aggro. Don't stand near Jedoga if you are a caster. She has a whirlwind named Cyclone Strike. When Jedoga ascends into the air, she will will ask one of the initiates to step forward for a sacrifice ritual. Everyone, including the healer, must target the initiate and kill him before he reaches the ritual spotlight. If it happens, the ritual will grant Jedoga an increased attack damage by 200%, which will definitely wipe the group. Very straightforward fight for as long as the initiate is killed.
Quotes
Non-combat quotes:
- You have traveled long and risked much to be here. Your devotion shall be rewarded.
- The elements themselves will rise up against the civilized world! Only the faithful will be spared!
- The faithful shall be exalted! But there is more work to be done. We will press on until all of Azeroth lies beneath his shadow!
- Immortality can be yours. But only if you pledge yourself fully to Yogg-Saron!
- Here on the very borders of his domain. You will experience powers you would never have imagined!
Aggro:
- These are sacred halls! Your intrusion will be met with death.
Calling a volunteer to sacrifice:
- Who among you is devoted?
- You there! Step forward!
Casting Sacrifice
- Master, a gift for you!
- Yogg-Saron, grant me your power!
Player dies
- Get up! You haven't suffered enough.
- You are unworthy!
- Glory to Yogg-Saron!
Death:
- Do not expect your sacrilege... to go unpunished.
Herald Volazj
The final boss of Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom dungeon. He is a Faceless One who serves the Old god Yogg-Saron.
Abilities
- Insanity: A debuff that creates a shadow copy of all party members. These have 6000 health and most be killed fast. Group up to deal with them at close range of each other. AOE them.
- Mind Flay: Inflicts 2828 to 3172 Shadow damage to an enemy for 3 sec and reduces its movement speed for 3 sec. It is casted on the Tank.
- Shadow Bolt Volley: Hurls missiles of dark magic, inflicting 850 to 1150 Shadow damage to nearby enemies.
- Shiver: A curse that deals 1414 to 1586 shadow damage when damaged. Jumps to nearby raid member. Lasts 15 sec.
Amanitar
This boglord elemental is an optional boss that spawns only in Heroic mode. He may be found at the swamp area with mushrooms after killing Elder Nadox. Simply go down the ramp on the area near Prince Taldaram.
Strategy
Amanitar will cast a debuff named Mini on the tank, but sometimes does it on a random player. The Mini debuff decreases defence by 500 and decreases your DPS by 75%. He will spawn mushrooms every 30 seconds. Each has about 150 health. Two types are spawned: Poisonous mushrooms and Healthy mushrooms.
Don't cast AOE abilities where some of these spawn. This boss fight is similar to the Ossirian's event mechanic. The tank and all the players must move near the Healthy mushroom. When Amanitar casts his Mini debuff, destroy the Healthy mushroom to remove the debuff and to gain a 100% damage buff. Move to the next Healthy mushroom and repeat when you get the debuff.
Players should, meanwhile, kill individual Poisonus mushrooms without AOE, unless there are no Healthy ones around. They cause nature damage by debuffing you with Poison Cloud, but it can be dispelled with Abolish Poison.
