Blackhand the Destroyer

Blackhand was the orc, ostensibly, responsible for unifying the Horde and leading their full might into the Human kingdom of Azeroth. In reality, however, he was set upon the throne by the Warlock Gul'dan, leader of the mysterious Shadow Council. He rose to power from the rank of Raider in the Sythegore Arm and claimed the position of War Chief. The Orcish clans were in a state of momentous dissension at the time of his rise, and it is possible that without his fist directing the Horde, the clans would have waged a war of mutual extinction upon each other.

Despite being planted on the throne of the War Chief, Blackhand successfully led the Horde to victory in the First War, razing the kingdom of Azeroth and driving the inhabitants northward. However, this success was not enough to save his life as one of his strongest and most trusted generals, Orgrim Doomhammer, assassinated Blackhand and usurped the throne. Blackhand was survived by his sons, Rend and Maim, the chieftains of the Black Tooth Grin Clan.
