Hallow's End
From wow.incgamers.com
The Headless Horseman, once a knight of the Silver Hand and a hero among his fellow paladins, is cursed. Driven insane within the Scarlet Monastery, he believes that he is alive and we are dead.
Now, his fervor no longer serves the Light. With the coming of Hallow's End, he spreads gloom and fire across the villages of Azeroth.

Background
The Hallow's End event originates from the Forsaken's celebration, to commemorate the day they broke free of the Lich King's grasp. All races now take part in this festival, though many of the activities have an Undead theme to them!
The Event
Dates
- October 18th to November 1st
Hallow's End takes place around the same time as our Halloween, and is spread over the course of 2 weeks.
Locations
Hallow's End celebrations take place in Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Undercity, Silvermoon City, The Exodar, Thunder Bluff, and any inn.
Theme
In the run up to Hallow's End towns become festooned with candles and eerie-looking pumpkin heads and seasonal decorations, such as this huge pumpkin in the entrance to the Undercity.
Headless Horseman
For the duration of the Hallow's End Festival, the Headless Horseman will be summonable in the Graveyard wing of Scarlet Monastery. He is a level 80 Elite, so it's not advisable to try him on your own! It usually takes a group of level 70s to down him. He drops some nice loot, including level 80 epic items, and his flying mount, so it's worth getting a group together to try and down him.
He also regularly raids villages during the 2 week period, by trying to set them alight. If you help to put the fires out, you can get some nice loot for your efforts!
Activities
Hallowed Be Thy Name
With patch 3.0.2, Blizzard introduced Achievements. Each in-game world event now has an achievement associated with it, and most of them award the character with Titles or other cosmetic items. The Hallow's End Achievement list, complete with tips on requirements, is fully listed here. The reward for completing all achievements in this category is the title "The Hallowed".
Trick or Treat
If you speak to the Innkeeper he'll offer you the chance to play Trick or Treat. Select Trick or Treat from the Innkeeper's menu and one of a few things could happen. Here you can see an female Orc changed into a black-clad Ninja for 60 minutes. Another shot of a Leper gnome. Other times you can receive a goody bag which can contain a small gift such as a face mask or a magical wand.
Due to complaints during the current Hallow's End event (2008), Blizzard added [Unknown Item: Hallowed Helm] and [Unknown Item: Sinister Squashling] to the things that players can receive in their treat bags!
Here are some examples of other things you may receive in your goody bag

There is also Apple Bobbing, which will reward you with a [Unknown Item: Bobbing Apple], an item that gives you extra attribute bonuses. In addition to Trick or Treating and Apple Bobbing, you can complete quests:
