Hex Lord Malacrass

Introduction

Hex Lord Malacrass is the last boss you will encounter before the end boss Zul'jin himself, in the dungeon Zul'Aman.


The Fight

Unlike the animal bosses, Malacrass is similar to the Moroes encounter in Karazhan, whereby he is accompanied by 4 random adds. The adds will be made up from the following mobs:

As with the Moroes fight, preferably 2 adds should be killed before attempting the boss in earnest. Malacrass will place a Damage over Time spell on targets that causes 300-400 damage per tick, and lasts for 15 seconds. In addition, every 60 seconds, he will cast a spell that drains the raid by 1%, which Malacrass gains himself, increasing his damage and size by 10%. He also channels Spirit Bolt, which lasts for 10 seconds, causing 450-550 Shadow damage every 0.5 seconds.

The main ability that Malacrass uses is the Soul Drain spell. He picks a random target, gaining certain abilities depending on the class he cast the spell on. Below is a table showing the special abilities that are used:

Druid Thorns - Causes 200 Nature damage to attackers when hit. Lasts for 40 seconds.
Lifebloom - Heals 500-530 every second and 46300-53800 when effect finishes or is dispelled.
Moonfire - Inflicts 930-1100 Arcane damage instantly and 250 every 3 seconds for 12 seconds. Stacks up to 99 times.
Hunter Traps
Mage Frost Nova - Inflicts 480-530 Frost damage instantly, freezes targets in place and increases Frost damage taken by 50% for 10 seconds. Can be dispelled.
Fireball Volley - Inflicts 2200-2850 Fire damage to targets hit by the volley.
Frostbolt - Inflicts 2850-3200 Frost damage and reduces movement speed by 50% for 4 seconds. Can be dispelled.
Paladin Consecration - Inflicts 500 damage per second to anyone standing in the consecrated land for 20 seconds.
Holy Light - Heals for 46500-54000.
Priest Flash Heal - Heals for 46500-540000.
Psychic Scream - Causes up to 5 targets within 8 yards to flee in fear for 4 seconds.
Mind Control - Charms the target for up to 20 seconds.
Rogue Slice and Dice - Increases attack speed by 50% for 40 seconds.
Blind - Blinds the target for 10 seconds.
Shaman Healing Wave - Heals for 46500-54000.
Fire Nova Totem - Causes 5700-6400 Fire damage.
Warlock Curse of Doom - Inflicts 6400-7600 Shadow damage after 30 seconds. Can be cured with Remove Curse.
Rain of Fire - Inflicts 2300-2700 Fire damage to anyone within 5 yards every 2 seconds for 10 seconds.
Warrior Whirlwind - Attacks nearby enemies within 8 yards.
Spell Reflection - Reflects the next spell cast within 5 seconds.
