Fishing is an often over-looked profession, and as cooking now is starting to become an every-man skill for the lovely food buffs, it's a great time to also pick up fishing. There is more to fishing than you might know, and beside using the raw or cooked fish to eat, you can also find rare items, do daily fishing quests and join in a weekly fishing tournament in Stranglethorn Vale.
With the chance of catching items such as [Unknown Item: Eye of the Sea] [Unknown Item: The 2 Ring], that can be sold on the Auction House for big piles of gold, and the possibility to deck your character out for the weekend raid with food buffs such as [Unknown Item: Spicy Crawdad], [Unknown Item: Golden Fish Sticks], [Unknown Item: Grilled Mudfish], [Unknown Item: Stewed Trout] or [Unknown Item: Stewed Trout], the advantages will soon become obvious! Not to mention you need fishermen in your raid for some raid bosses...
Some people swear by Fishing, and others swear at it. Some say it's one of the best pastimes in WoW, while others scorn the very idea of spending time fishing. At any rate, if you want to know more about fishing, how to get it, how to get skillups, how to increase your chance of getting fish on your hook, or just want to know more about the fishing events in Azeroth (and beyond), you should check out the guide on Fishing!
