Naxxramas

The Instance

Naxxramas first appeared in the game in Patch 1.11, around 6 months before the release of WoW's first expansion The Burning Crusade. At that time, it was a 40 man raid, and was the hardest content in the game. With only 6 months until the expansion and requiring so many players in very high quality gear, many players did not complete it and therefore Naxxramas became a bit of a legend.

In 2007 when WoW's second expansion Wrath of the Lich King was announced, Blizzard revealed that Naxxramas would be making a return. 40 man raids are no longer being made, all new high level raids are now 25 man, but Blizzard went a step further in Wrath of the Lich King and made all raids available on 10 man as well as 25 man difficulty. This means that most players will get to see Naxxramas in all its glory, although not the epic 40 man experience it once was.

The armor models from the original incarnation of Naxxramas remain popular, possibly due to their rarity, so Blizzard kept them for the new version of the instance, however the armor sets are now only 5 piece instead of 8, and the colours have changed slightly.
