The Sunwell Plateau is a 25 man raid instance located on the Isle of Quel'Danas, which became available with Patch 2.4. It's currently the hardest instance in the game.

Some facts about Sunwell Plateau:

• The Sunwell Plateau is a 25-man raid
• It is at the location of the Sunwell
• Kael'thas’ Blood Elves are leeching energy from the Netherstorm in Outland and are trying to harness its energy to power the Sunwell and summon Kil’Jaeden
• The Sunwell Plateau is Blizzard’s answer to the ending of TBC
• The lore fits right in with TBC and the upcoming expansion Wrath of the Lich King
• The Sunwell's architecture looks just like Silvermoon City
• A famous character we see inside that instance is Kalecgos
• This dungeon will be unlocked at the start but the last three bosses can not be tackled before unlocking them through daily quests from the Shattered Sun Offensive on the Isle of Quel'Danas.
• Reputation involved in this dungeon is the Shattered Sun Offensive (Aldor and Scryer combine forces)
• A semi-AQ40-like opening up event will come for the Sunwell. It will involve a quest-hub on the Isle of Quel'Danas with lots of daily quests revolving around capturing back stolen land. The faster the whole realm does dailies, the faster the town grows and thus unlocks more quests.
• The instance involves moving inside and outside, and visiting different buildings
• The last room in the instance contains the actual Sunwell

Location

Sunwell Plateau is on the Western side of the Isle of Quel'Danas, which is North of the Blood Elf Capital, Silvermoon City.

Bosses and Loot

Some facts about the inhabitants of Sunwell Plateau, and the loot they drop:

• This instance introduces six bosses
• The first three bosses are on a par with Black Temple encounters, and increase in difficulty from there
• Kil'Jaeden is the final boss
• The last three bosses gradually become "unlocked" as the realm has becomes attuned by completing enough daily quests at the Shattered Sun Offensive town, outside the instance on the Isle of Quel'Danas.
• The loot quality is better then the Black Temple & Caverns of Time Mount Hyjal instances
• No Tier 7 will drop; instead we get multi-class loots and other set-pieces, such as the Ahn Qiraj armour sets.
• A Legendary Bow is rumoured to be dropping in this instance, it will be a lootable drop, and will not require a quest chain or crafting, like the legendary sword [Unknown Item: Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker] or [Unknown Item: Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros]
