World Arenas

It is normally not possible to attack players of your own faction, unless you enter a World Arena such as Grurubashi Arena or Blades Edge Arena. Entering any of these arenas will flag you for "Free For All PvP", so even players from your own faction can attack you. The same naturally goes for other players of your faction entering the World Arena, they will be attackable by you. If you are not flagged for PvP, other players can never harm you. If you are flagged for FFA PvP, it will instead be a sword on a black shield. It will take 5 minutes outside of the FFA PvP area for the FFA PvP flag to disapear.

These arenas were originally intended for guild vs guild pvp action, and to even make it possible to have events there with an entry fee that a guild could organize, but are in general not very used.

Available World Arenas

The current World Arenas available in World of Warcraft, and offering "FFA PvP" are:

All the arenas in The Arena system also have a "World Arena" except for Ruins of Lordaeron, who by lore should be located on top of Undercity, but can only be accessed through The Arena system.

World Arena Events

Some of these World Arenas have events in them to liven them up a bit more, as there is basically no activity in them.

  • Dire Maul Arena - Random spawns of named mobs in the arena. Shouted out by an NPC. Killing these mobs gives relatively good quality Rare (blue) lvl 60 items.
  • Gurubashi Arena - Once every hour, on the hour, a chest appears in the middle of the arena, and the person that manages to kill all other interesed there (or is just the only person in the arena at the time) can get some Rare (blue) lvl 45 bracers of either Cloth, Leather, Mail or Plate. You can also get the [Unknown Item: Arena Master] trinket to start a quest to get the [Unknown Item: Arena Grand Master] trinket.

The Nagrand and Blades Edge World Arenas are not used for any events besides being instanced and used in The Arena battles.
